When the Shift Feels Heavy: A Reminder for the Ones Who Care
By Anabel, The Clinical Cut
Some days in healthcare feel heavier than everything you’re carrying in your pockets—your badge, your keys, your responsibility to everyone else.
And yet, you show up. You show up tired.
You show up short-staffed. You show up emotionally drained. And somehow, you still lead with compassion. Whether you’re at the bedside, behind the scenes, or somewhere in between, this work has a way of slowly wearing on even the strongest hearts. Burnout and exhaustion aren’t signs of weakness—they’re signs that you care deeply in a system that asks a lot.
I created The Clinical Cut for moments like this—for the nurse finishing a double shift, the tech who hasn’t had a real break, the provider carrying stories home that no one else ever hears. So today, I want to remind you of something simple, but important:
You matter just as much as the care you give.
If you made it to today, that counts.
If you’re running on fumes, let this be your reminder: showing up is strength.
Take a moment with me right now. Unclench your jaw. Drop your shoulders. Take a slow, deep breath in—imagining calm, loving energy filling your body. Then slowly exhale, letting the tension, the heaviness, the things that aren’t yours to carry leave your body.
Give it back to the universe. You don’t have to hold it all in.
And if you ever need a reminder, you can see, feel, or wear—The Clinical Cut was created with you in mind.
Until Next Time! One shift, one breath, one day at a time. —Anabel
